Rita J. Morgan, 87, of Windsor, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on June 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 22, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, Rita lived a life marked by devotion to family, community, and hard work.

She graduated from Little Flower Catholic School for Girls in Philadelphia, PA. Early in her career, Rita made significant contributions as a Key Punch Operator at IBM. She later devoted over three decades to the Windsor Central School District, serving in various capacities until her retirement. Alongside her husband and sons, Rita founded the Morgan Hillside Tree Farm in Windsor, New York, in 1984, creating a beloved family enterprise that reflected her love for nature and community.

A woman of unwavering faith, Rita was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Windsor. She also took great pleasure in her involvement with the Civic Club and Garden Club of Windsor. Her interests extended to puzzles and games, often delighting in “Road Ramming” with her husband Roy during their travels—a pastime she cherished deeply.

Rita was known for the deep bond she shared with her identical twin sister, Rose Kathleen Heffner-Kostedt. The loss of her twin left an unforgettable mark on her heart.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Roy John Morgan; her children, Mark and Deanna Morgan, and Michael and Jennifer Morgan; and her grandchildren Dillon, Bailey, Darby, Elizabeth, and Ethan; siblings Mary Hughes, Robert John, and Kathy Carragher, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Samuel and Edith John Sr., and siblings William Samuel John Jr. and Rose Kathleen Heffner-Kostedt.

Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support and prayers during this time. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Guthrie Hospice, One Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840.
