Robert W. Humphrey Of Johnson City, Ny Robert W. Humphrey, 90, of James G. Johnson Memorial Nursing Home of Johnson City, NY, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012. He was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by three nieces; Carolea Pierce; Margaret E. and John Knox; Judith Humphrey; three nephews, John W. and Dorothy Humphrey, Willard D. and Catherine Humphrey; Wayne and Karen Schnieder. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Navy serving on the carrier U.S.S. Ranger. In 1948, he received a BS Degree in Psychology from Penn State and in 1952, he received an MA Degree in Guidance and Occupational Adjustment from Columbia University in NY City. In the early 1950’s he worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance as a Claims Adjustor and for Travelers Insurance as a member of the Administrative Staff. In 1955 he became a management consultant and was hired by the New York Stock Exchange to become their first Records Administrator for 15 years. In 1955 he was a founder of a new management group called the Association of Records Executives and Administrators. Chapters were formed in many cities in the US and in 1962 International Chapters were formed. He served as President of AREA in 1959 and was a member of the board for 8 years. In 1960 he was a speaker and lecturer for the American Management Association in the field of Records Management. In 1970 he moved to the Berkshires in Western Mass and became Business Manager for the Berkshire Mental Health Association in Pittsfield, Mass. and in 1971 he became Business Administrator and Comptroller for the Berkshire Surgical Associates Inc. He was active in Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity for over 50 years. He was also a current member of the USS Ranger Reunion Group. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 2pm at Hilltop Retirement Home, 286 Deyo Hill Road, Johnson City, NY with the Rev. Lea Harding officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Cemetery, Vestal, NY
