Robert F. Reddon Of Susquehanna, PA Robert F. Reddon, 91, of Susquehanna, PA and Naples, FL, went to be with his Lord and Savior while at Barnes Kasson Hospital on April 3, 2016. He was the President and second generation owner of Reddon’s Drug Stores. He was predeceased by his mother and father Frank and Clara Reddon, his sisters, Sister M. Franceta IHM, Sister M. Clarice IHM and his daughter Denise and business partner Donald B. Robinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Mary Jane Van Aken Reddon, daughters, Kathleen Reddon and Roberta Reddon of Susquehanna, sons Frank and Laura of Stamford, CT, Edward and Terry of Susquehanna, Robert and Brenda of Susquehanna, a sister Betty O’Malley of Montrose, grandchildren Chris Cavanaugh, Kevin Cavanaugh, Sarah and Sean McNabb, Timothy Reddon, Jon Reddon, Dan and Christie Kelly, TJ Kelly, Ashlee Getter, Nolan Reddon, Bobby and Casi Reddon, Lauren Reddon and Billy Reddon, one great grandchild, Jase Reddon, and several nieces and nephews. Robert attended Niagara University – his education was interrupted when he volunteered to join the Navy. He trained at Ft. Pierce and became a member of the U.D.T., the forerunner of the Navy Scouts and Raiders. After receiving his officer rating at Rochester University and Northwestern University, he was stationed at the border of China and India on reconnaissance patrol. After the war he was the officer in charge of recreation base in Sasebo, Japan before returning to Niagara to finish his education. Robert had a passionate commitment to his community; he served as Mayor of Susquehanna for many years. He was the Fire Chief of the Chemical Engine Co., where he was known for his Sunday pancakes. He was a member and chairman of the board for Peoples National Bank. The Boy Scouts also awarded Robert with a Distinguished Citizen Award. He was a charter member of Barnes Kasson Hospital and was the chairman of the fundraising board to match the John F. Kennedy grant to fund the hospital. He donated land to the Boro of Susquehanna for a park in his father’s name and was a member of the Susquehanna American Legion for 70 years. Robert was a firm believer in his Catholic faith. He read for many years at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Starrucca, PA and also at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Naples, FL. He was also a Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and longtime member of the Vestal Hill Country Club and Naples Royal Palm Country Club. Robert was a kind and loving father and husband. He was proud of being truthful and honest. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all, especially his family. The family would like to thank Dr. B. Patel and Dr. P. Patel and the second floor nursing staff for the compassionate and professional care he received while being a patient at Barnes Kasson Hospital. We would also like to thank Judith Haley and Kathy Borowitz for the tender loving care he received. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Thursday, April, 7, 2016 at 10:00am at the St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, Susquehanna, PA. Interment will be in the North Jackson Cemetery, North Jackson, PA.
