Robert M. Venth
Of Walton, NY
Robert M. Venth, born on January 29, 1939, in Valley Stream, NY, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY. He was 87 years old.
Bob, known affectionately to many as “Farmer Bob,” spent the formative years of his life on Long Island until the age of eight, when he moved to Charlotte Valley. There, he attended school and worked hard on local dairy farms, often in exchange for room and board.
After completing his education in his youth, Bob answered the call of duty, serving honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War.
When his service concluded, Bob returned to Long Island and worked operating heavy equipment—a passion that would follow him into his later years. Following the untimely passing of his brother-in-law, Bob took on the responsibility of running the family farm in East Meredith. He managed the operation of the farm for five years before eventually retiring from his career as a heavy equipment operator. Even after retirement, his enthusiasm for machinery and farming never waned.
In an inspiring chapter of his life, Bob was awarded his high school diploma in Deposit, NY, in 2010 at the age of 71.
Bob’s interests were as robust as his work ethic. He had a passion for all forms of car racing, from NASCAR to dirt tracks. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting.
He was a dedicated member of the Deposit VFW 6609, honoring his military roots and supporting fellow veterans. For 38 years, he was a committed member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Bob was also an active participant in the life of the McClure Methodist Church.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Catherine Venth. His memory lives on through his children: Robby Venth, Debra Richards and her husband Todd Richards, and Kevin Venth. His four cherished grandchildren: Nicole, Danelle, Leah, and Theresa; 13 great grandchildren; Bob is also survived by his sister Jean Smaila; his brothers George Venth and Ronnie & Betty Venth.
He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Anna Venth, as well as his siblings: Everett Venth, Margaret Evans, Dorothy Shepherd, Bill Venth, Joan Wiel, and Larry Venth.
