Roland Salamon

Roland Salamon, 88 years young of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2022.
Roland is survived by his loving wife of nearly 45 years, Lynn Tiffany Salamon, and their two treasured daughters, Emily Bulman and Leah Salamon Curry. Roland considered himself fortunate to have two of the finest son-in-law’s, Brian Bulman and Juan Curry. He was also loved and entertained by his four adorable grandchildren; Quinn and Jack Bulman, and Julia and Christian Curry.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gero and Helen Salamon; sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Emeric Hirsch. He is survived by his nephews, Frank (Brenda)Hirsch, Stu (Pam) Hirsch and their families.
Born in 1933, Roland attended Hawley High School and graduated in 1951. He attended the University of Scranton, which was interrupted by his enlistment in the Air Force during the Korean War. He then returned and completed his degree in math education in 1957. Roland went on to teach math at the Susquehanna Community High School for 40 years. He also taught college level math at Luzerne County Community College. Roland committed much of his time and effort to the education and betterment of the youth in the community, serving as principal, athletic director, basketball coach, referee, and in later years, drama director for the school. He also served on the Lanesboro Town Council for 24 years. Roland was an avid antiquer and had a special interest in restoring furniture, including the restoration of the antique fire wagon in Lanesboro.
Roland was as unique and rare as some of the pieces he sold. He was a dog lover, an excellent cook, had a passion for democracy and was described as “the best husband and father there had ever been”. Some of the things he enjoyed daily were drinking coffee, reading the newspaper and comics, working on crossword puzzles and bird watching.
Roland felt lucky to have such good family and friends throughout his life;

Good friends: Lou, Jim, Joe, Jay, George, Paul, and Wayne.
