He graduated at the age of 16 from Deposit Central School and then continued his life operating the dairy farm with his father. In 1961-2, NYS took their farm for the construction of Rte. 17. In 1962, they brought a farm at Ouaquaga in Windsor and continued farming there until 1968, when Ronnie, Jean and family moved back to Deposit and built a home on land from grandfather’s farm in Stilesville. Ronnie went to work as a heavy equipment operator at the Delaware County Highway Department. Besides being an avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the Ouaquaga and Deposit Fire Departments and in recent years became a member of the Sherman Bible Chapel. He was an excellent bowler in league and tournament play but hunting remained his favorite past time. Ronnie’s hunting successes included a large bear in 1974, and over 50 whitetail bucks. During the 1981 deer season however, at the age of 47 he suffered a massive stroke. Even though he was disabled he was still able to hunt with family, and enjoy the next 39 years of his life. Ronnie and Jean began traveling with Barb and Bob, and Pat and Gunther on annual vacations to Myrtle Beach and visited many places including FL, Cal, LV, New England and a couple of Caribbean Cruises. In recent years, Ronnie wasn’t able to get out as much but was content to stay at home and enjoy his time with Jean and the many visits from his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, friends and family.
