Rose “Grandma” Potter Of Starrucca, PA Rose Evelyn Potter, 89 of Starrucca, PA, passed away at her home on Monday, January 1, 2018. She was predeceased by her son Thomas Potter, three sisters, Delores “Babe” Carpenter, Katherine “Kitty” Hubbs, Jane Stearns, three brothers Paul, John and Thomas Gilleran and parents, Mary Ann and James Gilleran. Rose is survived by her sisters Helen Gilleran of Florida and Claire & Carl Johnson of Virginia, two granddaughters Mary Wayman and Amanda Potter & three great grandchildren, Austin and Thomas Wayman and Anthony Carroll. She was a member of St. Paul’s and St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Rose grew up on the family dairy farm, the “Gilleran Farm”, where she lived most of her life. Rose had made a life of care-giving to family and was like a mother to many others, especially her grandchildren. She adored children and always looked towards engaging in conversation about people, places, and the weather. Rose will be remembered most for her kindness, generosity, sincerity, hard-working drive, strong-willed soul, sharp-mind & recollection ability, and for her love of chocolate (especially ice cream). The family would like to extend a thank you to AsceraCare Hospice and to her weekend aides; Kellie Lee and Tammy Allen, which had provided utmost care and comfort for her during her battle. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 10:00am at the St. Martin of Tours Church, Jackson, PA, with Rev. David Cramer officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul’s Cemetery, Starrucca, PA. The family will receive friends at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm.
