Sandra Ann Darling born on November 22, 1947, in Binghamton, New York, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, New York. She was 78 years old.

Sandra was a woman of remarkable dedication and warmth, whose life was marked by service to her community and devotion to her family. After graduating from Deposit Central High School in 1965, she pursued her passion for healthcare and became a Registered Nurse, graduating from Albany Medical Center in 1968.

Her journey led her to Rochester, where she became deeply involved in youth and community activities. As a Girl Scout leader and youth counselor at her church, she nurtured and guided young lives with kindness and patience. Sandra was also an active member of the Greece United Methodist Church.

An accomplished painter, Sandra taught decorative art for over 30 years, sharing her considerable talent and inspiring creativity in others. Her artistic gifts were well-known and loved by those who had the privilege to learn from her.

Later in life, after moving to Deposit, New York, Sandra devoted over 20 years as a volunteer at the "Deposit Closet,". She was also a valued member of the Deposit Historical Society, contributing to the preservation and celebration of local heritage.

Sandra’s personal joys included spending cherished time with her family, tending her flower garden, and delighting in the wildlife it attracted. She lovingly assisted her husband with the landscaping of their home on Laurel Lake, where many happy memories were made.

She faithfully supported her children throughout their childhood, attending every sporting and school event, embodying the true essence of a dedicated and loving mother.

Sandra is survived by her devoted spouse of 57 years, Kenneth Darling; her children Michele Sweetman and David Sweetman, Melissa Perlman and Daniel Perlman; and her beloved grandchildren Aaron Perlman, Owen Sweetman, Brody Perlman, Elijah Perlman, Daniel Sweetman, and Andrew Sweetman. She also leaves behind her sisters Susan Nightingale, Linda Buck, and Dawn Brady, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who cherish her memory. Her parents, William and Dorothy Smith, preceded her in death.

A visitation will be held on April 17, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, located at 107 2nd Street, Deposit, NY 13754. This will be followed by a memorial service from 1:00 PM at the same location.

Private Interment will be held in Hale Eddy Cemetery at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Deposit, NY 107 2nd St. Deposit, NY 13754, or the Deposit Historical Society PO Box 134 Deposit, NY 13754.
