Scott Reed Tweedie

Scott Reed Tweedie (53) died unexpectedly at his home in Albany, NY on October 8th, 2025. He was born in Walton, NY on July 4th1972 to Glenn and Linda (Pierce) Tweedie. He would later graduate from Deposit Central School (1990) and Broome Community College (1993). Before graduation, he worked at Scott’s Oquaga Lake House and The Chestnut Inn. Post college graduation, Scott worked at Schenectady International Incorporated for 5 years before joining Curia (formerly Albany Molecular Research Inc/AMRI) in January of 1998 where he would remain for over 26 years. Through his hard work and dedication, he rose through the ranks to Senior Research Scientist. He had three published papers and two patents.
In his formative years, Scott was a long-time member of the Deposit Kings and Queens 4-H Club where he showed Dutch rabbits at the Delaware County Fair and won many awards, including Grand Champion. He was a trumpet player in the DCS Marching Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band, under the direction of Brian Turner.
Scott married the love of his life, Sara Russo, on September 7th, 2002, at Howe Caverns, Howe Caves, NY. Together they had 2 boys, Logan and Oliver, and recently celebrated their 23rd Wedding Anniversary. They had been together for nearly 30 years. Scott was an avid reader, a collector of comic books, enjoyed painting minifigures for Warhammer 40K and Dungeons & Dragons, and loved playing Roleplaying games and collecting/playing boardgames with family and friends. He also loved his cats Pepper, Lily, and Tito.
He is survived by his loving wife Sara (Russo) and sons: Logan and Oliver. His mother Linda Mott (Kermit); his father-in-law Frank Russo, Sister Marcie White (Chad Hanyon), brother Chris Tweedie (Mindy), Aunts and Uncles: Mike Pierce (Lisa), Leona Jump (Steve), Mark Pierce (Cherie), Lorinda Pierce (Larry Underwood), Harold Tweedie (Pam), Delores Tweedie and Sandra Kerr (Bill), Nieces and Nephews: Mikalla Watson (Terral), CJ Tweedie (Shay), Alice Altieri (Travis), William White (Emma) and Derrick White, as well as many cousins and friends.
Scott was predeceased by his father, Glenn Tweedie and grandparents: Irma and Leo Pierce and Alice and Walter Tweedie; Mother-in-law Mildred Russo, Uncles and Aunts Dale Tweedie, Gary and Joan Tweedie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8th at the Deposit Episcopal Church from Noon to 3 p.m. All are welcome. If possible, please RSVP to Linda and Kermit Mott (607 -467-4124), bring a dish to pass, and a memory of Scott to share.
