Stanley Howard Long, Jr.Of Susquehanna, PA Stanley Howard Long Jr, 66, was a retired New York City Detective, a devoted husband, father, Grandfather and friend; he passed away on Friday, February 27. He was Born January 9th 1949 and raised in Brooklyn. He graduated Nazareth High School in 1967, and then attended Merchant Marines School before joining The U.S. Air Force, proudly serving two tours in Vietnam from 1968-1972. After returning from Vietnam he joined the NYPD in 1973. He was promoted to the rank of detective in 1986. He worked in the 71 and later at the 63 pct in Brooklyn. He retired in 2001 after 28 years of service. Stanley retired to Pennsylvania in 2002. Stanley was an avid supporter of the NRA. His hobbies, while vast, included golf, coin collecting and he was also a collector of antique firearms. He also enjoyed vacationing with family and proudly has visited every US state. He loved spending time with his family. Stanley is survived by his wife of 20 years Arlita Robinson, 2 sons; Stanley III and James, 6 grandchildren; Stanley IV, Alexandra, Samantha, Anthony, Julia and Justina. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March5, 2015, at 11:00am at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8pm.
