Stephen G. Barker

March 15, 1955 — February 12, 2021

Stephen G. Barker Of Thompson, PA Stephen G. Barker passed away suddenly at his home in Thompson, PA, the morning of Friday, February 12, 2021. Steve was born on an American Air Force base in Eyam, England, on March 15th, 1955. He grew up in New Jersey and moved to Northeast Pennsylvania January 2005 to reunite with his high school sweetheart, his true love of more than 40 years, Robin Ann Chew. They were FINALLY married July 25, 2015. He gracefully fell into the role of dad to many that needed him including Robin's children: Scott Seidel (Alex) of Buffalo NY, Martin Seidel (Melanie) of Susquehanna PA, Laura Plant (Michael Cass) of Thompson PA, and Allen Plant of US Army Fort Hood TX. He was a loving, fun "Poppy" to his grandchildren: Caitlynn O'Dell (Michael Ondrako, Carson, Arie, and Cora); Codi O'Dell (Kaitlyn); Tyler, Kyla, Waylin, Abel, Noah, and Sadie Seidel; Laila O'Dell and Rayden Cass. Steve is also survived by his mother, Laura VanFossen (Bob), sisters-Susan Barker, and Sara Stephens (Scott), and two nephews-Wesley (Liz) and Tony (Molly). He worked for RJ Walker in Carbondale PA for 16 years and touched the hearts of many customers. He was looking forward to retirement this spring/summer, planning to spend more time outdoors with his family. Steve traveled the world, having many adventures. He was an avid fisherman, often out on the water with his "brother" Jimmy. No one was safe from the wide net of friendship he cast out into the world. He was a giver of fantastic hugs and shared them often when you least expected it. A true lover of dogs, he made four-legged friends where ever he went. He freely gave and accepted slobbery kisses. His 180lb+ Bloodhound mix, Max, will miss them most. Steve never wanted any kind of formal funeral services. The family is planning a celebration of life gathering to be held when the weather is warmer.
