Terry Jack Stark
Of Susquehanna, PA
Terry Jack Stark, 80, moved on from this life on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the only way he would have wanted - with family and listening to Carlos Santana. His dear older sister Audrey (Sullivan) predeceased him by only a few days, and we know he moved on to stay close to her. They spent much of their lives living just up the road from each other, and spent most every early evening sitting on her porch together.
Terry was born on February 1, 1946, to Frances E. and Andrew J. Stark. He was the youngest of four siblings. Terry was a lover of cars, tennis, woodworking, horse racing, and music. He spent many happy hours drinking beers and playing tennis with his group of tennis buddies - and even when he could no longer play, he remembered it with great joy. Terry was fiercely independent, both politically and otherwise. He managed to stay in his home until very close to the end of his life, and he serves as a shining example of a life lived well, and to the beat of his own drummer.
Terry took great pride in service. He spent four years in the United States Air Force, where he was a member of the Air Rescue Service. The majority of his time in the service was spent assigned to Wheelus Air Force Base in Tripoli, Libya. During his time in the Air Force he worked as a helicopter mechanic. He earned the rank of Sergeant and received an Air Force Commendation Medal for his participation in the daring helicopter rescue of a group of 10 Italian sailors whose boat had run aground in the Mediterranean during a strong storm. When he returned to Pennsylvania, he completed a machinist technical training program at Williamsport Community College, where he excelled academically and received scholarships and awards. He went on to work at IBM, where he spent most of his career.
Terry is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Naruko Stark. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Lawson (Allen), Meredith Rapkin (Neil Toensmeier), Jerry Sullivan (Dawn), Jackie Berling (Steve), Kenji Stark, Shoji Stark and Myya Hemenway and a whole host of grand nieces and nephews, including Isaac Toensmemier, Sean, Brandon and Maureen Lawson, Adam and Andy Napolitano, Tia, Alyssa, Syndey and Haley Stark and Tobey and Frances Hemenway.
Terry was also predeceased by his sister Bonnie Rapkin and her husband Robert, and his niece Becky Napolitano (George).
He was known as the "fun uncle" to his nieces and nephews, who loved him very much and will miss him dearly.
