Theodore “Ted” Baker, 49, of Deposit, NY passed away suddenly December 27, 2025, after a long courageous battle with health issues. He was born on December 31, 1975, in Ithaca, NY the son of Stanley & Patricia Baker.
He was predeceased by his father Stanley Levi Baker and mother-in-law Linda Markiewicz.
Ted is survived by his mother Pat Baker (John); son Brett Baker (Janet); daughter Chantal Raymond (Doug); brother Lee Baker (Lisa); sister Wenona Ankrum (Jay); grandchildren, Daniel, Gabriel, Mary Jane, Theo, Henry, Pokie, Levi, Callie, and Beau; nephew and niece Dylan and Sophia; as well as many other extended family members.
Ted moved to Deposit in his early years where he met the mother of his children Amy Markiewicz. They spent 29 years raising two beautiful children and nine grandchildren together. Any free time Ted had, you could find him making memories with his family. He deeply cherished his children and grandchildren. For many years Ted worked alongside the Schambach family at Frank’s Garage as a mechanic and tow truck operator. He followed proudly in generational footsteps holding his CDL for 31 years hauling for Cook Trucking, LJ Harrie, Keesler, Schaefer’s, and Superior. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or drive. Throughout his life, Ted was always willing to lend a helping hand. He frequently assisted his friends by hauling cars at Buteau’s, towing at S&S and getting the hay harvest in with the Schaefer’s. For 16 years Ted was a devoted member of the Deposit Fire Department, serving with dedication and compassion alongside his children and fire family. To know Ted was to love him. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His love for his family and friends illuminated the earth. Ted will be dearly missed by everyone near and far. May his legacy live forever.
