Theresa R. Brazie
Of Deposit, NY
Born on the 4 th of July, 1933, Theresa “Terry” Brazie, 89, of Deposit, NY, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Barnes Kasson SNF in Susquehanna, PA. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph & Emma Stankus; devoted husband of 61 years, Cecil Brazie; brother Joseph, and sister Veronica Vann.
Terry is survived by her children Chuck & Michele Brazie; Dave & Dana Brazie; and Tim & Judy Brazie; grandchildren: Aaron Brazie, Jason Brazie, Ariana Jessen, Krystin & Sioeli Fakalata, Matthew & Allie Brazie, Jayson and Kristen Brazie, Jordan Brazie, and Savannah and Tamer Abdelaziz, great grandchildren: Jubilee and Karina Jessen; Ryder, Mac, Poet, and Babu Fakalata; Ciandra, Dominic, Phillip, Ethin, Julian; Isaac, and Owen Abdelaziz;, great-great grandchildren Zavier and Jaxx; and sister Rita Bronchella.
For many years, Terry worked as a registered nurse at the Deposit Medical Center and frequently practiced those nursing skills on her 3 boys who always seemed to need bandages and antibiotic ointment. As a tireless worker for the area hospice program, Terry saw many families through difficult times. She was an EMT and volunteered with the Deposit Ambulance Squad until back injuries would no longer permit her to participate.
During time “off duty” Terry loved to pick blueberries. She diligently fed her birds—chickadees were her favorite—and enjoyed watching them and the wildlife that routinely visited her yard. Once Terry even saw fit to yell at a bear that was eating bird seed on her deck! She loved animals and was never without a cat and dog while in good health. As a dedicated member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Deposit, NY, she is well remembered for lighting candles and saying her rosary to get through hard times. Faith was important to her.
Terry possessed a number of memorable qualities. Many of the little things make us smile. She carried the equivalent of a travel bag with her and tried to pass it off as a purse. Growing up during the depression had an impact. Never was she unprepared for a global food crisis! So too, there was always a hidden “stash” of treats for the kids. If you ever received a letter from her, it was no doubt covered in stickers and smiley faces. She made some of the best caramel corn known to mankind and took endless Polaroid pictures of the kids—always including names and dates on each picture–then taping them to the cabinets, refrigerator, and china hutch. Post-it notes were everywhere in her world as she filled her grandchildren’s beds with beautifully hand crocheted afghans. They are a treasure. She is well remembered for taking walks with those grandkids around the family sand bank, sending poteza bread at Christmas, and dabbling – not too successfully—in playing the Baldwin organ. Terry was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by her family.
