Theresa D. Reis, 78, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she later made her home in Deposit, NY, creating a life filled with love.

She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Florence (Foster) & Vincent Haughie, and siblings Christine Kinter, Vincent Haughie, William Haughie, Kenneth Haughie, and Richard Altschul.

Theresa leaves behind her devoted husband of 54 years, Thomas Reis, and their children: Jennifer Macumber (Kenneth), Thomas Reis (Summer), and Colleen Tabala (Kenneth). She adored her nine grandchildren: Kenneth and Kaitlyn Macumber; Marisa Dimick (Roger), Thomas Reis Jr., and Tyler Reis; Brandon, Aidan, Connor, and Kieran Tabala. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathleen Ging (John) and Eileen Zakowski (Chester), along with cherished in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

As the oldest sibling, she had a nurturing spirit from the start. She attended hairdressing school but found her true calling as a devoted mother and homemaker. Her family was her heart, and she poured love into them every day.

After moving to Deposit, NY, she briefly ran a boutique, The Fashion House, before dedicating years as Head of Housekeeping at the Chestnut Inn. In 1999, the family returned to Brooklyn, where Theresa embraced her favorite role—full-time grandmother—spending a decade caring for her grandchildren with endless love.

When Thomas retired, they became snowbirds, spending winters in Florida, where Theresa was joyfully reunited with her sisters. For 15 years, she and Tom split their time between New York and Florida, building deep friendships and treasuring every moment with loved ones.

Theresa’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Her love was endless, her laughter contagious. Though she is no longer by our side, she will forever be in our hearts.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 10am at St. Joseph’s Church, 98 Second St. Deposit, NY.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Deposit, NY.

Calling hours will be held at Hennessey’s Funeral Home 78 Second St. Deposit, NY, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM.
