Timothy V. Tompkins, 83, of Ephrata, Pa. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at his home after an illness.
Tim was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Eleanor Tompkins and is survived by his loving wife Marilyn of 58 years of marriage; his daughter Terry (Tompkins) Hudon and Ed of Collegeville, Pa., his daughter Susan (Tompkins) Smith and Gerald of Palmyra, Pa; grandchildren Joshua, Aiden, Faith, Matthew and Ethan; his sister Germaine Grausgruber of Oakland, Pa; sister-in-law June (Thorn) & Norm Mead, of Apopka, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Tim was born on December 30, 1939 in Susquehanna, Pa. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Susquehanna, Pa where he served as an alter boy and graduated from Laurel Hill Academy in 1958. He served as a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member for several years and was an active member of the Lanesboro Council as well as an active member of the Lanesboro Cemetery Association. Tim worked for 50 years for the Operating Engineers Local 410 out of Binghamton, NY. He was introduced to the profession by his dad and over time he became a highly skilled grader operator who was sought after by many major Construction Companies. After his retirement from the Operating Engineers Tim started his own construction business which made him very happy. He loved his family very much and always enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was so proud of all of their accomplishments. Some of his favorite pastime activities included hunting, camping, and bowling to which he belonged to different teams and leagues at the Riverside Lanes Bowling Alley. He was an avid collector of Lionel Trains and would go to train shows with his cousin Roger Holleran and friend, neighbor Ted Keyes. In his younger years, Tim rode in local rodeo competitions and greatly enjoyed spending time with his horses.
Family will receive friends for a Memorial from 10am to 11am on November 18, 2023 at St John’s Catholic Church and a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am. A private burial service for the family will follow the Mass.
