Virginia Ruth Benson

VIRGINIA RUTH BENSON Of Susquehanna, PA   Virginia R. Benson, age 82 of Jackson Avenue, Susquehanna died on January 11 at Barnes-Kasson Hospital. Ginny was predeceased by her parents, Clarence “Friday’ Curran and Ruth Soller Klemp; her former spouse, Gerald F. Benson; and her brother Jack Curran.  Survivors include her children:  John R. and Debra Benson, Gerald and Sandra Benson, Jeffery Benson, and Jodi Benson; grandchildren: Jill and Kyle Snell, Jaime Benson and Sean Mulhern, Jennifer Benson; Rachael Benson, Shannon Rockwell; Chad and Courtney Benson, Shayna Benson and Darryl Jaget, Jr.; David and Brandy Benson, Ginny Lane, and Debra Barton; 22 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Carol Curran. Ginny graduated from New Milford High School in 1954 and went to work at Security Mutual in Binghamton, NY.  After raising her family, she worked at the Towne Restaurant in Susquehanna and for many, many years at the Eagle Hotel.  She was the Grande Dame of the Stinky Boys motorcycle club and a member of American Legion Post 86 Auxiliary. She enthusiastically supported all the endeavors of her children and grandchildren; and enjoyed watching old movies and Syracuse University basketball.  Ginny was an icon to her friends and family.  She was very much loved and will be sorely missed. In abiding by Virginia’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
