Wayne A. Sexton

January 14, 1945 — July 11, 2021

Wayne A. Sexton Of Deposit, NY Wayne A. Sexton, 76, went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 11, 2021. Wayne was born on January 14, 1945 and was raised by Arthur and Vera Beers, of Stilesville, NY. He married Nancy Jacobsen on June 15, 1963 and raised 4 children. Family was everything to Wayne. It didn’t matter the occasion – a birthday, a wedding, hunting, making syrup, or just a Sunday meal – what mattered was that family was around. Wayne was the consummate outdoorsman and was always looking forward to whatever opening day was around the corner. He enjoyed hunting and trapping and shared his love for this with his children and grandchildren, who carry many stories of spending time with him close to their hearts. He was also an avid dirt-track and NASCAR racing fan, who always was rooting for “The Intimidator”. Wayne wore many different hats – he was a construction worker, logger and did heavy machinery repair. He took great pride in his work, a legacy that lives on in his children and anyone who worked with Wayne. He embodied the motto “work hard, stay humble and be kind”. He took pride in his neighborhood and was quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Wayne will be remembered in the stories of all who knew him, as a hard-working, steadfast and faithful father, grandfather and friend. Wayne was predeceased by his wife, Nancy, his parents, Arthur and Vera, and brothers: Richard, Gleason and Wilbur. He is survived by his children Dave (Anita) Sexton, Dan (Melissa) Sexton, Jim (Brenda) Sexton and Cherry (Bob) Matthews; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. Surviving also are his sister, Deanna and brother, Tim (Rachel). During the last 6 months of his life, Wayne never missed the opportunity to share his love for Jesus. It didn’t matter who called or visited, his message was simple: “Confess your sins and have a relationship with Jesus Christ.” Wayne is home now, with his bride of 58 years, dancing on streets of gold. We will miss his presence here but know we will be reunited with him one day. As were his wishes, a private service will be held at a later date.
