Wilbur John Beers

Wilbur J. Beers Of Deposit, NY Wilbur John Beers, 78, of NYS Rt 8 Deposit, went home to his be with his Savior on Wednesday July 17. He is predeceased by his father, Arthur and his mother Vera. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean  (Jacobson), a son Michael and daughter Barbara (Payne) and their spouses, Renee Beers and Scott Payne ;brothers Tim Beers and Wayne Sexton; sister Wanda; grandchildren Brad and Karissa Payne, Amanda Farr, Kate and Zachary Beers as well as two great grandchildren. Born at home in the village of Cannonsville he resided in Deposit for most of his adult life. In 1960 he joined the U.S. Army where he served until honorably discharged in 1963, spending a portion of that time stationed in Germany. For over 30 years he served his community as an employee of the Town of Deposit, retiring in 2006. Wilbur was known throughout the area as the small engine repair man and during the warm weather months could be seen fixing some sort of lawn mower, snowblower, weed eater or anything on wheels He also loved deer hunting, being outdoors and appreciating God's great creation. He especially loved the New York Yankees, the Green Bay Packers and Dale Earnhardt. He also loved decorating for Christmas, inside and out, often starting before Thanksgiving. He served faithfully in the church for many years serving as a deacon, trustee, Word of Life Coach and numerous other positions. One of his greatest joys was to tell others about his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a man of many hats would help out anyone who had a need.
