William G. (Stringer) DeakinOf Susquehanna, PAWilliam G. Deakin, 63, of Susquehanna, PA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 18, 2011. He was pre-deceased by his sister Linda and father William C. Deakin. William is survived by his mother, Doris Deakin; loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Elizabeth; adoring children William J. and Christina Deakin, Becky and Andrew Jordan, twin sons Brett and Brandon Deakin; sister Joyce and Royce Neidlinger; sister Diane and Dave Medlar; brother John Deakin; sister Beatrice and Terry Eichenberg; the love of his life, granddaughter Aubree Deakin; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. William worked for the railroad for many years, and after he went to work for the Susquehanna County Transportation Department from which he retired. He was a member of the American Legion Post 86. Stringer was well known for his cap; outstanding friendliness; working in his garden; and his prized possession, his 1970 Chevelle SS. He was a father figure to all of the neighborhood kids; he always had a song in his heart and will greatly missed by all that knew him. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at 10am, at the St. John’s Church in Susquehanna, PA, with Rev. David Cramer officiating. Burial will be held in the St. John’s Cemetery, in Susquehanna, PA. The family will receive friends at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, on Monday, August 22, 2011, from 5 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deakin family.
